"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100
In the book of 2 Kings 6 and 7, the King of Syria laid siege to the City of Samaria. The siege caused a devastating famine in the land. The famine was so grievous that the King of Israel blamed God, and more directly, God's prophet, Elisha.
He vowed to kill the prophet, and showed up at his door with a contingency of men to carry it out.
Undaunted by the king's threats, Elisha advised him that within 24 hours the siege would be lifted and the city would begin to recover.
The king's First Officer scoffed at the prophet; registering indignation and doubt as to whether God could or would bring the promised deliverance to pass.
Because of this lack of belief, Elisha advised the First Officer that he would not live to see the miracle. Sure to the word of the prophet, the man died and did not share in the blessing!
Psalm 100 tells us to enter God's gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!
God is daily providing you with blessings.
God is preparing a table for you in the presence of your enemies.
God invites you to "come and see."
Don't be like that unbelieving First Officer. Enter His gates with your thanksgiving. And into His courts with praise!
