A Little Reminder
I’m reading through the Bible in a year and I’m currently in 2 Peter, chapter 1.
In that chapter, Peter writes some words (wait for it) that reminded me of some things, and now I’d like to pass them on to you!
Peter writes in verses 12 and 13,
“Therefore I will always remind you about these things, even though you know them, and are established in the truth …”
“I think it is right, as long as I am in this bodily tent, to wake you up with a reminder.”
Peter was reminding us of several things. And, in Peter-like fashion, he was also telling us to wake up! It’s all specifically laid out in 1 Peter and 2 Peter.
There’s nothing better than reading the texts yourself, but I wanted to point out 3 particular reminders that pertain to you, if you’re in Christ.
I hope it gives you some encouragement today, as it did me.
(1) You are called by God’s glory and goodness. Yes, you initiated faith to believe in God, when He called, but the calling originated with God.
That means you’re loved and appreciated by your Father in heaven. He created you and called you to Himself.
The second aspect is that your calling is intentional. It’s not a random occurrence. You are purposefully called to a relationship with God and to serve others.
Leaning into those truths will give your life direction and meaning.
(2) You are empowered by God with everything required for life and godliness. You lack nothing, in Christ. God has packed your bag with everything you need to become all God wants you to be.
You’ve just got to carve out some space to hear God’s voice. He will never disempower you. God is always seeking to build you up!
(3) You share in God’s divine nature, through Christ. We are all made in the image of our Creator. But our sins cut us off from experiencing the fullness of God. Christ died to close the breach created by sin and to restore us to fullness with our Father.
What Adam lost; Christ regained. So, we can walk in forgiveness, in divine power, and in love!
In this distracted world we live in, it’s easy to forget these truths.
It’s nice to have a little reminder. In Christ, we know that:
We’re called,
We’re empowered, and
We share in God’s divine nature!
