Don't Ignore The Word Of God

In the past month or so I've been spending my Quiet Time with God in the Book of Revelation. More on that to come!

I'm in chapter 12 where John receives the revelation of how Satan fell from heaven and took 1/3 of the angels with him.

It's all very apocalyptic, filled with symbolism and images that are difficult to comprehend, but definitely worth the effort. In fact, Revelation is the only book of the Bible I'm aware of that specifically promises a blessing to anyone who will wrestle with its meaning in order to apply it to their lives.

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near." Revelation 1:3.

So, there it is in black and white. God promises a blessing to anyone who will take the time to read and apply His word.

This morning it worked for me in an unexpected way.

While I was contemplating the fall of Satan and the dawn of the Apocalypse, a gentle thought came to me about a matter I've been praying about for a while.

I've grown accustomed to how this works, so instead of dismissing the thought in order to keep plowing through the text, I set my Bible aside and listened to my thoughts.

Then I took out some paper and began writing down what I was hearing. One thought led to another, and before I knew it, I received some long-awaited direction.

It was unexpected that I would hear from God on an unrelated topic while reading through the Book of Revelation. But in one way it wasn't. The word "revelation" is synonymous with "uncovering" or illumination. The inner revelation I received wasn't anything as profound as the revelation to John in the Bible.

But that's what happens when you stick your nose in the Book. God begins to reveal things. One of God's attributes is being a light-bearer. See John 1:1-4.

When you give God your time, one of the things He'll exchange it for is light. The darkness you may be experiencing could be connected to the amount of time you're spending in God's presence and in His word.

More God = More light.

Speaking of light, in the past week or so, I've published a little digital book entitled, "How To Know God's Vision For Your Life." It's a short, power-packed eBook on four steps taken from the Bible on how you can uncover God's vision for your life.

This is an area of struggle for many, but it doesn't have to be. Learn the steps taken by God's people over the centuries to discover and to walk in His will.
