Someone's Watching You

https://gillfam.org

In the mid-nineties I started going to church regularly.

My son was born three months premature and my wife led the way to take our concerns to the Lord. I hadn't been to church in years, but I couldn't argue with that, so I went.

Overall, the people were—maybe too nice. I have to admit, I had an undeserved distrust of them. I had come to church to support my wife and son. Nothing more.

As time rolled on, I noticed a man by the name of Trevor who was a great servant.

He was on the choir, he was a greeter, he was always helping out and being friendly to everyone. He also reminded me of my dad.

I kept watching Trevor, and the more I watched him, the more I became at ease in church and open to what the Lord had to say to me.

Within a year or so, I had dedicated my life to the Lord and joined Trevor on the choir!

That was twenty-five years ago.

Nowadays, I run across many people who don't bother with church because they don't see it as relevant to their lives.

"Why should I bother with Church? I don't get much out of it," they say.

That may be true. But what about the young woman or the young man like me, sitting in the pew (and whether they know it or not) are looking for a "Theresa" or a Trevor to follow?

What if that was your assignment?

Are you good with just leaving it to someone else?

Lately, I've been thinking about my own legacy. Who's watching me? I'm now about the same age Trevor was back then. Besides my own son, whose premature birth led me back to church, but who's now 27 years old (praise God), what other young man is scoping out my example?

I ask you the same question.

Who's watching you?

I assure you someone is. Trevor had no idea I was watching him. He was just being himself. I didn't say a word to him until years later. Here's a weird twist to the story—he actually knew my father!

For those of you who follow this blog, you know that at the end of 2019, I closed my law practice and launched this ministry this year.

The idea is to use this platform, social media, publishing books, short films, speaking at events, and any avenue available to be a Trevor to as many "Waynes" as I can reach.

They're at your workplace, or next door. They're your relatives, friends and acquaintances. They're everywhere!

They even come to church sometimes, and they're looking for you!

God bless!

Wayne
